perfect

The first version was a bit simple, but this was perfect. It had a verry NG-ish feel to it, and a very wide selectino of icons, and then you can upload it to a website wich also looks very NG-like, and gets your username, and other users and see and vote on it! This is a great idea.

Thanks a lot. I tried a lot harder this time to make sure it had some solid features that made it easier to get graphics in the configuration you wanted. And the sharing of them was something I was determined to get in and working. It's actually the first part I built and what ultimately spurred me on to get the rest done.

nice game, very hard

I absolutely LOVE lamarr, possibly more than the WCC, and this game was great, except it was way to hard. You can barely just jump over stuff and I couldnt get past the 3rd level. I like the idea of the life timer thing thoguh, althoghu it was too hard. And althoghu it is good, I dont really think the pixelated theme goes with HL2.

TmsT responds:

I like Lamarr more than the Wellington City Council too! (But srsly, what's the WCC?)

On the third level, try jumping up, then moving to the right just as you pass over the Combine's stun-stick. If you just jump diagonally up and to the right, you won't make it past the second Combine. ;)

it was a good tutorial

It was a good tutorial for people not knowing how to do passwords, good layout and music, but it would be better if you didnt use components, cause if this was implemented into a game, components look way out of place. Also, I noticed you have like 5 tutorials, couldn't you combine them all into one? That would be allot better, and get a higher score rather than individual tutorials. anyway, keep up the good work :)

//OLD REVIEW//

Well i'll soon update it. Thanks!
Also, I am already planning to do a Ultimate Guide to Everything but I make them separate for people who don't know how to do one thing and don't want to search a tutorial with everything he/she doesn't need.

crap tutorial

This tutorial wasnt really hellpfull atall, its just nooby stuff which was probably copied from another tutorial, and everything is too small and unreadable, plus most of its about illeegally downloading flash. Just get a job and save up some money and get it legally. You can always get an older version on ebay, I got studio 8 back in '06 for £68 on ebay, and as I got used to it, I recently got CS4 Web Premium upgrade for about £340. Plus, all the preloaders in your tutorials are fake. Is it really that hard to just use this? percenttext=((getBytesLoaded()/getByt esTotal())*100)+"%"

robocopisback responds:

1 - It wasn't copied
2 - I made it myself
3 - I am a Flash engineer
4 - Its not nooby stuff totally professional
5 - I make money by making my web sites
6 - I make $4,000 dollars for each 12 web sites and pay my 7 group crew $2,000 a week and I don't see you make that much.
7 - You suck

good

It was ok, but could have been better, and mostly everything just led to a flickering blue screen. It also looks alot like my VistaTouch: http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view /464497

AsianSpark responds:

It's a JOKE.

Good!

I liked it, but you could have maybee made it more NG-ish, had a few more items, and masked the "canvas" because sometimes, you only want a part of an object in the icon, so it covers up half the tools. Also, it would be good if you could save it as a jpeg, but I know that would be almost imposible with AS2, but if you are using AS3, there are some JPEG encoders. Also, the backgrounds aren't vectors, so in the edit mode, it appeared pixelated.

smokinjoeevil responds:

Yeah... another guy also mentioned AS3 and the ability to encode bitmap data as JPEG. Unfortunately, it only goes that far within Flash itself. You can't save the image out onto your drives from within a web-page running that Flash. You have to have server-side action of some kind. So, I'd have to plan on a PHP script hosted externally to NG that would accept requests for the creation of said files, create them on the server, and serve them up via some gallery pages of some sort... maybe organized by a username or something requested in the Flash itself.

okay..

I like this game, but when theres the small tunnely bit before the flame, you have to make yourself small enough to fit through there, then you turn off the flame, but then you can't jump high enough to turn off the heat lamps at the end. Please fix this and the game would be perfect.

lordlinton responds:

Yes, you can jump high enough, but you need to recharge your health in the small petri dish first :)

good game

its a bit like ball revamped but the levels are a bit repetative and the gravity is too high. What code did you use for the hittests anyway because I havent yet found a good way of hittesting round objects without it glitching or taking a very long time.

Tomo009 responds:

I just used radius to detect whether the area around the origin was touching the walls and then sent the ball to its 2nd frame.

good game, graphics

it was a great game with good graphics but it was a bit too complicated. I couldnt really play it properly, im not so sure what you even have to do.

bobbyHoellwarth responds:

I'm not going to explain how to play it, but I'm glad you enjoyed it anyway.

your first game?

well that is REALLY good! Considering most peoples first games are mouse avoiders or quiz games. The controls are a bit hard- maybee change the movement to arrow keys. Other than that I cant find anything wrong with it.

xdragonx10 responds:

That would make the game far to easy :)

I am a flash developer- I mostly make games but do a few animations and vector graphics too. PM or email me if you want any help with flash tips or techniques, or AS2 help. I am also interested in electronics and pyrotechnics, so PM about them too.
